Oct 31, 2007, #382, AFA

 

Dispatched at 21:23 for an AFA (Automatic Fire Alarm) in a commercial structure. Chief 54 and Chief 54-1 were responding at 21:24. Crews began arriving at 21:25.

 

C54-1 arrived to find light smoke showing. C54 arrived and established Command 54. Entry was made on side C using the Knox box system. C54 and C54-1 investigated Division 2 and a light smoke condition was observed. Engine 54-2 arrived and crews assisted with checking the attic space. Engine 61 arrived and laid a 5" supply line into the parking lot on side A and their crew checked Division 1.

 

Crews from Engine 54-2 and Engine 61 entered the building with a 2" and 1 3/4" attack line and found the fire in the back of the building in the laundry room. Fire was knocked down and crews ventilated the structure to inspect. Fire was under control at 22:14.

PA State Police assisted with the investigation. The fire was ruled arson. The box was placed available at 01:05.

 

Mutual aid was provided by stations 34, 35, 45, 56, 58, and 61. Harford County 10 filled in for Eureka until we cleared the call.

 

Units from Eureka included Engine 54-2, Engine 54-3, Truck 54, Tanker 54-1, Tanker 54-2, Ambulance 54-1 and Ambulance 54-2. 24 members made the call.
